What Is Kingdom vs. Kingdom (KvK)?

Kingdom vs. Kingdom — commonly called KvK — is Rise of Kingdoms' largest and most important recurring event. In KvK, your entire kingdom competes against one or more other kingdoms on a massive shared map. It's a multi-week event with phases, objectives, and enormous rewards for top contributors. Winning — or even performing well — in KvK can define your kingdom's prestige for seasons to come.

KvK Phases Overview

  1. Preparation Phase: Before KvK opens, focus on stockpiling resources, training troops, and coordinating with your alliance. This is your last chance to upgrade hospitals and research combat technologies.
  2. Lost Kingdom Phase: The main combat phase. Kingdoms fight over objectives like passes, altars, and the Holy Sites. Your individual score (Kill Points) and alliance score both matter.
  3. Ark of Osiris & Sub-Events: Side events run alongside main KvK combat. Participating in all of them maximizes your rewards.
  4. Closing Phase: Final pushes for objectives, score settlement, and reward distribution.

How to Prepare for KvK

Troop Training

Start training troops weeks before KvK begins. You want full queues running constantly. Focus on your highest-tier troops — T4 or T5 depending on your city level. Never enter KvK with half-filled marches.

Resource Stockpiling

  • Save Food, Wood, Stone, and Gold for healing costs during combat.
  • Stockpile Speed-Ups for emergency troop training mid-event.
  • Keep a reserve of Healing Speed-Ups — your hospitals will be constantly busy.

Research Priorities

Before KvK, make sure you've researched as far as possible into the Military tree, especially:

  • Troop Attack, Defense, and HP upgrades
  • March Speed upgrades
  • Healing Speed and Capacity upgrades

Commander Preparation

Have at least two strong combat commanders ready with appropriate talent trees. Build one for open-field and one for rallying if possible. Ensure your commanders are well-starred and have enough XP tomes to keep leveling during the event.

During KvK: Key Strategies

Coordinate With Your Alliance

KvK is a team event. A disorganized kingdom loses even with strong individual players. Your alliance should have:

  • A clear rally leader and designated commanders
  • A communication channel (Discord or in-game) for calling targets
  • Assigned roles: fighters, scouts, flag builders, and resource runners

Focus on Kill Points, Not Just Objectives

Your personal KvK score is built primarily from Kill Points — points earned by defeating enemy troops. Prioritize fighting over idle activity. Even small engagements add up. Focus on fighting enemies within your power range to minimize your own losses.

Shield Wisely

Don't burn shields randomly. Use them when your city is at risk of being zeroed (all troops killed). If you're actively fighting, keep your troops marching so they can't be attacked at home.

Capture Holy Sites & Passes

Alliance objectives like Holy Sites give powerful kingdom-wide buffs. Prioritize capturing and defending these with your strongest garrison commanders (Richard I or Constantine I are ideal here).

KvK Rewards and Scoring

KvK rewards are distributed based on your personal contribution score and your kingdom's overall performance. Top contributors receive rare commander sculptures, golden keys, and exclusive equipment materials that are hard to obtain elsewhere. Always aim to maximize your participation — even moderate contributors benefit significantly.

Final Tips

  • Never leave your city unshielded overnight during active KvK combat phases.
  • Use your action points (AP) every day — they're free fighting opportunities.
  • Stay in constant communication with your alliance leaders.
  • Don't fight battles you can't win — retreat and regroup rather than losing all your troops.
